Good code is a mirror: it shows you what you meant, not just what you said. When you come back to it later, or when someone else reads it, that clarity - or the lack of it - is what you leave behind. The rest is just instructions.

Opening...

Prologue

Henric, also known as The Animal Guy in high school, always wanted to be a zookeeper when he was growing up. Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) was his childhood hero. In 6th grade, Henric wrote a letter to Steve and expressed his admiration and shared his dream of one day moving to Australia. A couple of months passed, and to his adolescent amazement he received a reply in the form of a letter and a signed photograph from Steve and the team at Australia Zoo. Naturally, this became his most precious possession.

Throughout his childhood, Henric filled his room and his parents' garden with animals of all shapes and sizes - from flocks of parrots in the aviary outside to bookcases filled with ordinary and exotic rodents, monitor lizards, snakes, turtles, tortoises, fishes, spiders, insects, cats and dogs. The little space that was left in Henric's life (and in his room), he filled with computers in all shapes and sizes (especially Apple), and that is how he was introduced to programming and the second Steve (equally as important) in his life.

When you grow up you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money. That's a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it... Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.

- Steve Jobs

Between 2002 and 2005, Henric attended The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (English language high school) in Kristianstad. New interests were introduced, such as philosophy, history and geography. Following graduation, Henric joined the Swedish Navy in 2006 (served in Karlskrona and Malmö), and continued to Lund University in 2007 to study social anthropology with the goal of becoming an osteologist (study of bones). Faith intervened and postponed the follow-up course, diverting his path to the School of Arts and Communication (K3) at Malmö University where he graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Interaction Design (though he did return briefly to Lund University in 2009 to study entrepreneurship and innovation at Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship). During his studies at Malmö University, Henric also worked as an intern for David Cuartielles (co-founder of Arduino).
